Coral necklace - Mesoamerican Reef

Coral necklace - Mesoamerican Reef
Coral necklace, Mesoamerican Reef.
This original piece of coral was found washed up on a beloved beach in Mexico, on the Yucatan Peninsula, just north of Tulum. My family has been returning to this very same beach for over 25 years. Just off-shore spans the 2nd largest reef system in the world, the Mesoamerican reef, 2nd in size only to the Great Barrier. It’s a spectacular place, of unimaginable beauty, very near to my heart. As I have watched this beautiful reef system shift over the years, this piece is a reminder of the fragility of coral reefs, the impact humans have had on their health & survival & the dire need to protect them.
Original specimen was molded & cast in sterling silver. Forged sterling silver U-bail.
oxidized sterling silver
hangs on 30” sterling silver rounded box chain.
*Can be ordered with or without flush-set pale blue topaz stone. The stone is set in a little hidden corner, a glimmering spot, perhaps hard to see, representing hope.
